CROWN PRESS WEBSITE REDESIGN
This project explores what defines an effective modern website. Through user interface analysis, SEO research, and visual design exploration, I redesigned the Crown Press website to create a more intuitive, streamlined, and visually engaging experience for its clients.
THE CHALLENGE
The original website, designed in 2016, was fully functional but no longer met current usability or design standards. Its interface felt outdated, and the overall user experience lacked clarity and efficiency.
Several issues contributed to this:
Redundant content, including a blog that provided little value to users
A continuous carousel of stock imagery that distracted from key information
Numerous unfinished or outdated pages that remained accessible through search engines
These factors not only diluted the user experience but also impacted site performance and navigation clarity.
The website’s original homepage
The website’s original homepage (blog section)
The website’s original company info. page
I began by auditing the existing site and mapping a revised sitemap focused only on essential content. This confirmed my suspicion that more than half of the existing pages were unnecessary and could be removed.
With a clear structure established, I moved into prototyping. Using Adobe XD, I developed a non-functional prototype to test navigation flow and ensure each page connected logically and efficiently. This stage allowed me to refine the user journey before moving into visual design.
THE PROCESS
Wireframes created to map out the page content & functionality
Links created between pages and buttons in the prototype
THE SOLUTION
The final design maintains visual continuity with the original site while introducing a more modern and cohesive aesthetic. Retaining Crown Press’s recognizable purple brand color helped preserve familiarity for returning clients, while updated typography, layout, and spacing created a cleaner, more polished experience.
The redesigned site prioritizes clarity, ease of navigation, and faster access to key information, resulting in a more user-focused and contemporary digital presence.
